Lily Claudette Chauchoin was born in Paris on September 13, 1903,
and moved to the United States with her family when she was three.
Growing up Claudette longed to play on Broadway and wasn't the

most theaters in New York she headed west to try her luck in films.
After the usual small parts her career took off with successes
like TONIGHT IS OURS (1933) and CLEOPATRA (1934). And then there
was IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934) with Clark Gable. Perhaps one
of the best films of its' time it won the Best Picture Academy

Stunning
Born
on September 13, 1903 in Paris, Lily Claudette Chauchoin moved
with her family to the United
States when she was 3. As she grew up she wanted to play to
Broadway audiences more than anything. But, as we know, plans
seldom go according to plan. After a series of films including
THE LADY LIES (1929), HOLE IN THE WALL (1929) and MANSLAUGHTER
(1930) Claudette Colbert became synonymous with "good movies."
But it wasn't until she played Ellie Andrews in the classic
IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT (1934) paired with Clark Gable that she
became a household name. She won the Oscar that year and was
nominated again the following year for PRIVATE WORLDS (1935).
In the film HONOR AMONG LOVERS (1931) she wore this stunning
