Ginger Rogers was one of our most versatile stars during the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s. Films like “Kitty Foyle” showed off her dramatic talents and won her the Best Actress Oscar in 1940. Born on July 16, 1911 in Independence, MO, Ginger Rogers started out her film career in 1933 when she was given star billing in PROFESSIONAL SWEETHEART. Soon after, she starred in 42ND STREET and GOLD DIGGERS OF 1933, but her luckiest day was when she and Fred Astaire decided to hitch up in FLYING DOWN TO RIO. After winning the Oscar for Best Actress for KITTY FOYLE in 1940, her star was permanently lit in Hollywood. In one of her many publicity photos she wore these stately diamond earrings.
