She Always Sizzled

Lana Turner had a very quick rise to fame after appearing in LOVE FINDS ANDY HARDY in 1938. Thanks to a very creative wardrobe department Ms. Turner's appearance turned more than a few heads in Hollywood and the rest is history. Great performances in films like JOHNNY EAGER, WEEKEND AT THE WALDORF and IMITATION OF LIFE solidified her place in cinematic history. Lana Turner led a fascinating life in Hollywood. Multi-marriages and off the screen excitement often overshadowed her talent but films like JOHNNY EAGER (1941), SOMEWHERE I'LL FIND YOU (1942) and WEEKEND AT THE WALDORF (1945) quickly remind you of how good an actress she was. In the film GREEN DOLPHIN STREET (1948) Ms. Turner starred with Van Heflin and Donna Reed and turned in another terrific performance, no doubt because of these beautiful diamond earrings. Although many remember Lana Turner for her exciting personal life we can't forget her wonderful performances in films like IMITATION OF LIFE (1959), PORTRAIT IN BLACK (1960), and THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE (1946). Discovered at the ripe old age of 17 in a Hollywood drugstore, Ms. Turner quickly became a popular actress as well as a popular wife. She was married eight times, twice to Steve Crane. In 1957 Ms. Turner was finally recognized by the Academy with a nomination for her performance in PEYTON PLACE (1957). In a publicity photo she wore a unique ring featuring a blue center stone surrounded by 28 small diamonds.

Her top notch performances in JOHNNY EAGER (1941), SOMEWHERE I'LL FIND YOU (1942) and WEEKEND AT THE WALDORF (1945) were the basis of a wonderful career but the best was yet to come. In 1959 Ms. Turner made IMITATION OF LIFE and proved she had not lost her edge.

In the latter part of Ms. Turner's career she proved without a shadow of a doubt that she still had her edge.
